Port Blair, 06 August 2024:
The 91st half-yearly meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee, Port Blair was held today in the Conference hall of Secretariat. The Secretary (Official Language), A&N Administration, Shri Vishwendra presided over the meeting.
In his address, the Secretary (Official Language), A&N Administration said that the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs is quite serious in Implementation of Official Language Policy in Central Government Offices. He said that being Officials of the Central Government Offices, we all should make it a habit to dispose our maximum official work in Hindi. He said, a large number of employees posted in various Offices in Andaman and Nicobar Islands are capable of working in Hindi and they are required to be encouraged to perform their official works in Hindi. The Government of India has now developed Kanthastha 2.0 and Anuvaadini software and with the help of such software it has now become very easy to do official work in Hindi, he said urging all the Head of Office to organize workshops at regular intervals to sensitize their employees about these software and try to dispose all Official works in Hindi with the help of these software.
Addressing the meeting, Shri Nirmal Kumar Dubey, Deputy Director (Implementation), Regional Implementation Office (Eastern Region), Kolkata, emphasized that all the Head of Office of Central Government located in these Islands are expected to provide a Quarterly progress report to the TOLIC Office in each quarter and they are also expected to be present in the Half Yearly meetings of TOLIC. He asked all the Head of Office to register their Office on the portal of the Official Language
Department and furnish the report online and to provide a copy of the same to the TOLIC Office. He further asked all the Head of Office to ensure full compliance of all the provisions of the Official Language Act and Official Language Rules.
The meeting was co-ordinated by Member-Secretary of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee, Shri Rajendra Indawar, Deputy Secretary (Official Language), A&N Administration.
After the meeting, Andaman Lakshadweep Harbour Works, Coast Guard Headquarter, National Sample Survey Office, and Director General, Audit under Category-1 and Directorate of Census Operations, Botanical Survey of India, NABARD and Assistant Defence Estates Office under Category-2 were awarded the first, second, third and consolation prizes respectively for doing excellent work in Implementation of Official Language Policy during the year 2023-24.
