On August 1, 2024:
Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat, Uttara, Prakash Mondal, has formally written to the Director of Health Services, highlighting an urgent need for a permanent cook at the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kadamtala.
In his letter, Mondal raises significant concerns regarding the current situation at the PHC. The facility’s lone cook was recently transferred to Port Blair, and since then, no replacement has been appointed. This vacancy has led to serious disruptions in food services for patients admitted at the health centre.
Residents of Uttara and Kadamtala villages have expressed their dissatisfaction and concern over the lack of adequate food services, which is essential for the well-being of patients receiving treatment at the PHC. The absence of a permanent cook has resulted in challenges in providing timely and appropriate meals, impacting the overall quality of care.
Prakash Mondal, on behalf of the local community, has requested the Health Services Director to expedite the appointment of a permanent cook. He emphasizes that having a dedicated cook on staff is crucial for the smooth operation of the medical facility and for ensuring that patients receive proper nutrition during their stay.
The appeal underscores the need for immediate action to address the staffing shortfall and improve the conditions at PHC Kadamtala, ensuring that essential services are maintained without interruption.
