On the eve of 78th Independence Day and as a part of ongoing celebration of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, 2024’, the Middle Andaman Forest Division organized a Mini Marathon under the theme ‘Run for Viksit Bharat’ for the officials of Middle Andaman Forest Division, Rangat today. The marathon was flagged off from the Forest Check Post, Rangat, which concluded near DFO Office, Hawamahal via Parnashala Nursery. The marathon was followed by a mass tree planting programme by all participants at Forest Colony, Hawamahal. Around 175 Nos. participants including officers, staffs and workers of the Middle Andaman Forest Division participated in the event.
As a part of the tree planting programme, around 150 saplings comprising of fruit bearing as well as various other species were planted by the participants.
Earlier, Dr. Abdul Qayum, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer (Middle Andaman) highlighted the importance of conducting such events and also the role of the Department in the process of conservation of the Natural resources as well as their preservation.
