Sri Vijaya Puram, 23 Sep:
ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sippighat under the administrative control of CIARI, Sri Vijaya Puram conducted a two days training programme on harvesting and processing of cinnamon recently at Collinpur Gram Panchayat Hall. The training was conducted in the presence of Sujata Singh, Pradhan, Collinpur, Dr. Y Ramakrishna (Principal Scientist and Head, KVK), Dr. Ajit Arun Waman (Senior Scientist, CIARI), Dr. Pooja Kapoor (Subject Matter Specialist, Home Science), Training Coordinator, Ms. Sushma (Subject Matter Specialist, Horticulture) and supporting staff of KVK, Sippighat.
Dr. Ajit delivered a lecture on scope and importance of cinnamon in India while Dr. Y Ramakrishna covered the marketing aspects of cinnamon. Harvesting and peeling of cinnamon was demonstrated by Ms. Sushma. Drying of cinnamon was demonstrated by Dr. Pooja Kapoor. Fourteen farmers and farm women attended the training.
