Sri Vijaya Puram, 19 Sep:
Under the direction of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), the Andaman Nicobar & Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC) organized a massive protest at Bambooflat Jetty, South Andaman on the 17th of September, 2024. The event was led by ANTCC President Shri. Rangalal Halder and Campaign Committee Chairman Shri. TSG Bhasker.
The protest was in response to the derogatory remarks made by BJP Union Minister Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, in which he referred to the Hon’ble Leader of Opposition,Lok Sabha Shri. Rahul Gandhi as a “No. 1 Terrorist.”
The protest saw significant participation from Congress leaders, workers and supporters, who gathered in unity to voice their agony over the derogatory statement made by the BJP Union Minister . The crowd raised slogans demanding an immediate and unconditional apology from the BJP leader for the unacceptable remarks on Rahul Gandhi .
Shri Rangalal Halder addressed the gathering and emphasized that such remarks not only tarnish the dignity of political discourse but also show the desperation of the BJP to undermine the popularity and influence of Rahul Gandhi . He called upon the people to reject the politics of hate and division and to stand united in defense of democracy and mutual respect.
Mahila Coordinator South Andaman Smt. Zubaida Begum speaking at the event, highlighted the importance of maintaining the integrity of national leaders and upholding the values of political decency. She condemned the language used against Rahul Gandhi , asserting that it reflects the growing frustration within the BJP as Rahul Gandhi continues to challenge their policies and ideologies.
Mahila Coordinator North & Middle Andaman Ms. V.K Mariyam Bibi also took the stage to condemn the incident, reaffirming their support for Rahul Gandhi and demanded that the BJP leader should publicly apologize for the offensive comments.
Many Congress Leaders comprising the Senior Leaders, Mahila Leaders and PRI Members were present in the protest.
