CPI (M) South Andaman Committee Criticizes Union Budget in Corner Meetings, Highlights Local Issues

Port Blair, 07 August 2024:

As part of CPI (M)’s campaign against Union Budget, the South Andaman Rural Area
Committee of CPI (M) has conducted corner meetings on 6 th August, 2024 at various parts of
rural South Andaman.
Addressing the corner meetings, Dr Gouranga Majhi, Secretary, CPI (M) South
Andaman Rural Area Committee criticized the central government for the anti-people budget.
Terming the Budget as pro-rich, the CPI (M) leader said that the Budget has been framed only
for further enrichment of the corporate sector, completely rejecting the demands of the farmers
and workers in the country. He said that no concrete step has been taken by the NDA
government through this budget to contain the rising prices. CPI (M) questioned the BJP on its
hollow promises made to the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands like (i) construction of
Chatham-Bambooflat bridge, (ii) power cut (iii) new jobs to youths (iv) drinking water scarcity,
etc. CPI (M) also highlighted through the corner meetings the various local issues like imposition
of Deemed University on the islanders, insufficient boats for southern group of islands, lack of
benefits to farmers, etc.
Shri S. Chidambaram, CPI (M) Area Committee Member also addressed the corner
meetings.
