Government of India Ministry of Home Affairs Transfers Joint AGMUT Cadre Officers in Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS

In a recent reshuffle, the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, has announced the transfer of officers in the Joint AGMUT Cadre. Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal, IPS (AGMUT:1997), has been transferred from Delhi Police to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where he will take charge as Director General of Police. Additionally, Devesh Srivastava (AGMUT:1995) has been transferred to Delhi Police.

Special CP HGS Dhaliwal, a 1997-batch IPS officer, has previously been in charge of Traffic Zone II. He also served as Chief of the Anti-Terror Units Special Cell in New Delhi and is an alumnus of the Punjab Public School, Nabha.

During his tenure as DCP of South Delhi, Dhaliwal and his team successfully cracked several high-profile cases, including the Dhaula Kuan gangrape case and the Saumya Vishwanathan-Jigisha Ghosh murder cases. Notably, he managed the Green Park shootout between cops and bank robbers in 2009 and the bikers gang shootout, which led to the killing of gangster Bunty.

Dhaliwal has also handled numerous significant law and order situations, such as the CWG 2010, JNU agitation, and the communal situation in Jamia Nagar post-Batla House incident. He is one of the few serving officers of the AGMUT Cadre to be awarded the Police Medal for Gallantry for his personal leadership and bravery, as well as the Police Medal for Meritorious Services.
