Port Blair, 05 August 2024:
Shri B. S. Jaglan, IAS, Secretary (Jail), along with Shri Mohd. Irshad Haider, IPS, Inspector General (Prisons), and Ms. Sapna Priya, Superintendent of District Prison, Prothrapur, conducted a thorough inspection of the on Aug.1, 2024. Their visit included evaluations of various facilities within the prison, such as the Jail Hospital, prisoners’ living barracks, Cook House, Female Barrack, Video Conference Room, and Jail Workshop. They also interacted with inmates addressing their grievances and concerns.
A significant highlight of the visit was the inauguration of a new batch of the Tailoring Course at the District Prison, Prothrapur. This initiative, in collaboration with the NGO ‘Jan Shikshan Sansthan’ and sponsored by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, aims to provide valuable vocational training to inmates. The program is designed to equip them with practical skills, thereby improving their chances of successful re-integration into society after their release.
