Reporte – JOHN WILBERT , Port Blair, Andaman Nicobar , 26 June 2024:
Excitement is building among the residents of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands as major positive news circulates on social media: the first international flight route from the islands is set to commence between Port Blair, India, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Starting in November 2024, AirAsia, renowned for its extensive Asian coverage, will begin operating flights between Kuala Lumpur and Port Blair thrice a week. The schedule shows departures from Port Blair at 11:00 AM and arrivals in Malaysia at 4:15 PM.
This development is expected to significantly boost economic growth, particularly in the tourism sector, and enhance various trading markets. Islanders are welcoming the news with great enthusiasm, seeing it as a gateway to broader economic opportunities and increased tourism.
In an effort to confirm this exciting development, the News Aaptak team reached out to the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Civil Aviation Authority, and members of the Veer Savarkar International Airport Advisory Committee. While official confirmation is still pending, members of the advisory committee expressed optimism. “We’ve heard the news, but we don’t have official confirmation yet. If true, it would indeed be a positive development for the islanders, aiding in economic growth and benefiting the tourism sector,” said a committee member.
As the islanders await official confirmation, the prospect of a direct international connection to Kuala Lumpur brings a wave of positivity and anticipation for the future.
