South Andaman Becomes First District in India to Receive ISO 9001:2015 Certification for Administrative Offices

In a remarkable achievement, the South Andaman District has become the first district in India to receive the prestigious ISO 9001:2015 certification for its administrative offices, including the District Commissioner’s (DC) Office, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office, two Assistant Commissioner (AC) Offices, and three Tehsildar Offices.

The certification, awarded by the Quality Management Systems, is a significant recognition of the district’s commitment to maintaining high standards of quality management, transparency, and public service. Libin Baby, Lead Auditor and Vice President of Audits & Certification at Quality Management Systems, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the South Andaman Police Department and other associated offices for this outstanding accomplishment.

In his congratulatory message, Baby highlighted the importance of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, which emphasizes continuous improvement and efficient service delivery. He praised the South Andaman District Administration for their dedication and hard work in adhering to rigorous international standards, which has resulted in the district’s successful certification.

“The ISO 9001:2015 standard focuses on quality management systems and continuous improvement, which are crucial in maintaining public trust and ensuring efficient and effective services. Achieving this certification is no small feat and highlights your department’s adherence to rigorous international standards,” Baby stated. He further emphasized that this achievement reflects the district’s commitment to quality, transparency, and accountability in all aspects of its operations.

The certification process involved a comprehensive evaluation of various processes and procedures within the district’s administrative offices. It required a meticulous approach to enhancing systems, ensuring that all operations met the stringent criteria set by the ISO standards.

This milestone is seen as a significant step forward in the district’s efforts to provide top-notch public services and maintain a high standard of governance. The certification covers a broad scope of activities, including land revenue management, maintenance of law and order, land record management, disaster management, public safety, issuance of various certificates, supervision and management of sub-divisions and tehsils, public grievance redressal, and election management.

Baby also expressed confidence that this accomplishment would further enhance the reputation of the South Andaman District Administration and inspire other government agencies across the country to pursue similar standards of excellence. “The residents of South Andaman District are fortunate to have such a dedicated and competent administration team working to ensure their welfare and well-being,” he added.
