Two-Day Conclave on Sustainable Water, Waste Management, and Energy in A&N Islands Concludes

Port Blair, 03 August 2024:

A two-day Consultative Conclave/Workshop on ‘Moving towards Sustainable Water, Waste Management and Energy in Andaman & Nicobar Islands’ jointly organized by DBRAIT and CII concluded today with the 3rd  Session on ‘Sustainable Energy’. The last session commenced with the presentations by Senior Officials from Electricity Department and Andaman & Nicobar Command depicting the Energy security challenges in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Thereafter, the session was participated by experts from various Industries and Organizations including CII Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Center, H2e, Greenko, Grid Technologies-Siemens, KEC, Avaada Group, Magicmyna etc. wherein they portrayed the solutions with hydrogen, nuclear and solar based green and sustainable energy options for Island scenario. The technical session concluded with the presentation on Possibilities in harnessing Nuclear Power for ANI by Vice Admiral Dinesh Prabhakar, AVSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) Distinguished Chair of Marine Engineering at INS Shivaji.

The Sustainable Energy Session was attended by delegates from Andaman Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI), Institution of Engineers (IEI) Port Blair Chapter, Officials from Defense establishments, senior retired officials of Electricity Department, other Government Department of A&N Administration and of DBRAIT & JNRM who actively interacted with the experts and discussed the cost benefit aspects of various Sustainable Energy Solutions implementable in A&N Islands. The various solutions discussed in the three sessions of two day’s workshop was presented as summary by Dr. S Raji, Faculty and Coordinator,  DBRAIT and the vote of thanks was given by Shri Sushmit Roy, Head Green Hydrogen Energy CII, a press release from DBRAIT said.
